The Wilson Leadership Scholar Award recognizes and cultivates leadership potential and prepares undergraduate and graduate students to serve as Canada’s next generation of leaders.
Each year three undergraduate and three graduate students join the Wilson Leadership family. Undergraduate winners hold the award in their final year of undergraduate study, earn $25,000, and can have their leadership development recognized for course credit. Graduate winners can hold the award in any year of graduate study and earn up to $25,000 in a combination of direct scholarship and experiential funding.
Wilson Leaders win more than a cash prize. They join a community committed to excellence in leadership and character. This community is developed through a program grounded by the following pillars:
Wilson Leaders will be paired with mentors selected to match their academic interests, leadership style, and potential career trajectory.
“Some candidates will demonstrate their promise through impressive track records of success, others through outstanding moral fibre or untapped potential. We are looking for natural leaders in any field—engineers and artists, intellects and athletes, introverts and entrepreneurs.”
— Peter Sharpe, President of the Wilson Foundation
